Apple's October 2026 MacBooks: Everything New + India Prices

Apple's October 2026 MacBooks: Everything New + India Prices

The M6 MacBook Pro, the first touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, and where the MacBook Neo fits — specs, India prices and dates in one place.

Apple just had its busiest Mac week in years. In two days it refreshed the base 14-inch MacBook Pro with a brand-new M6 chip, and then did something Mac fans had been told for a decade would never happen: it put a touchscreen on a Mac. If you're a developer, designer, student or job seeker in India wondering what changed and what it costs here, this is the short, no-hype version.

The two launches, in one line each

Pre-orders opened on 28 October, with the machines reaching buyers in early November.

  • 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 (announced 27 October): the everyday Pro gets Apple's newest chip, up to 24 hours of battery and Wi-Fi 7. From ₹2,39,900.
  • MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display (announced 28 October at the "Pro and Tell" event): a tandem OLED touchscreen, Dynamic Island on a Mac, and M5 Pro or M5 Max chips in 14- and 16-inch sizes. From ₹3,49,900.

14-inch MacBook Pro with M6

What Apple announced:

Apple's own performance claims compare it with the M5 model: up to 30% faster graphics, up to 25% faster on-device AI work such as LLM prompt processing, and up to 1.3x faster Xcode project builds. Those are Apple's lab numbers — independent reviews will tell us how they hold up.

India price: ₹2,39,900 for the base 16GB / 1TB model, ₹2,27,900 with education pricing.

  • M6 chip with a 12-core CPU (two more cores than before), a 12-core GPU with Neural Accelerators in each core, and what Apple calls a dual 16-core Neural Engine
  • 16GB of unified memory as standard, configurable up to 32GB; Indian launch reports list 1TB storage on the base model
  • Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness
  • Up to 24 hours of battery life — Apple says the longest ever in a Mac
  • Three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, SDXC slot and headphone jack; up to two external displays
  • Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View
  • Space black and silver; ships with macOS 27

MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display — the touchscreen Mac

This is the headline act. Apple calls the panel PROLED XDR: a tandem OLED display with up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness for both HDR and SDR content, a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate that drops as low as 10Hz to save power. Touch is built into the panel, and the Dynamic Island from the iPhone arrives on the Mac.

The rest of the package:

The mini-LED MacBook Pro models stay on sale alongside it, so the OLED touch version is a premium choice rather than a replacement.

India prices (as reported at launch): ₹3,49,900 for the 14-inch M5 Pro, ₹4,09,900 for the 16-inch M5 Pro, ₹5,49,900 for the 14-inch M5 Max and ₹5,89,900 for the 16-inch M5 Max. Indian reports put the OLED versions ₹50,000 above comparable mini-LED models, and nano-texture glass is an ₹18,000 option.

  • M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 16TB of storage
  • 14.2-inch and 16.3-inch displays; Apple says the 14-inch now weighs about 3 pounds and the 16-inch about 4 pounds, both slightly thinner than before
  • Up to 24 hours of battery life, with up to 50% charge in 30 minutes using a higher-wattage adapter
  • Three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, SDXC, MagSafe and a headphone jack
  • Up to three external displays with M5 Pro and four with M5 Max
  • Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 through Apple's N1 wireless chip

Where the MacBook Neo fits

The MacBook Neo, launched earlier in 2026, remains Apple's entry laptop. It runs the A18 Pro chip with 8GB of memory and launched in India from ₹69,900. It's the realistic Mac for most students and freshers — more on that in our Neo vs M6 guide.

Prices above are launch prices reported by Apple and Indian outlets on 28–29 October 2026. Always confirm on Apple's India store or an authorised reseller before you pay — bank offers and EMI deals change weekly.

So, who should care?

  • Developers doing heavy builds, Docker or local AI work: the M6 Pro is the sensible upgrade, the M5 Max OLED is the dream machine.
  • Designers, video editors and photographers: the PROLED panel is the real story — brightness, contrast and Adobe RGB coverage.
  • Students and freshers: the MacBook Neo, or a discounted previous-generation Air, is still the smarter buy.
  • Anyone on an M1: Apple claims up to 11x faster graphics and 13x faster AI performance on the M6 versus the 13-inch M1 — the upgrade case is strongest for you.

The bottom line

The M6 MacBook Pro is an evolution — faster, longer battery, same design. The PROLED touchscreen MacBook Pro is a genuine shift in how Apple thinks about the Mac, at a price that puts it firmly in professional territory in India. Most buyers should wait for reviews and the first bank offers before spending ₹2.4 lakh or more.
